2.4 questions

ok i did a little searching and got some mixed awnsers so i thought id make my own post.


first i want to do the g4cs bottom end and 4g63 head. my goal is 500 whp and i wanted to know if the g4cs internals can take 500 like the 4g63 can. also what do i need to bolt up will timming, motor mounts, and tranny bolt up.oh and i have a 91 laser thx your reply would be appreciated

I haven't done the swap, but from what I have read, the stock g4cd internals won't stand up to that much power. I would imagine at the first hint of knock, the upper ring lands would crack and you would lose compression.

As far as timing, you would need a 2.4 timing belt and cam gears (unless you remark the stock gears or get adjustable gears)

I have a G4CS in my Talon, and I love the torque for daily driving

They are non turbo internals, so they are not going to be able to take the same punishment as your 4g63 internals that were designed with boost in mind.

Just put in some good rods and pistons made for this scenario. See the above post I referenced. You wouldn't use the stock g4cs rods and pistons for a 500hp setup.
