Alrighty guys/gals I have 1500 to spend and I like torque. I'm doing a 2.4 build. I've done research, everything is for the 6 bolt or for a turbo. mine is neither.

Ive found:
4g64 7 bolt crank (NEW-$208.88)
Eagle rods ($299.99 for the 420a)
Wiseco "stroker" pistons ($419)
ACL main/rod bearings ($99.99)
Cometic complete gasket kit ($68.99)

I have:
Cold air intake
Free flowing exhaust
272 cams

DO I NEED ANYTHING ELSE?

If you only have $1500 to spend then it doesn't really sound like you're ready to build an engine. A typical headgasket job without any performance parts, just hg, timing belt and water pump retails for $1,100.00. Expect another $250-350 in machine work, another $400 or so in cams, then $200 +/- in springs and retainers. An engine build that is worth putting in to a car is going to START at about $3000.

There's no way you are going to build that for $1500. You are trying to do the 2.4L swap into the 420a bay? I hope you are a master fabricator. Those motor/tranny mounts will need some work to fit.
You need ALOT of other parts. Head studs, motor mounts, valves, retainers, lifter/rockers.. I honestly hope you aren't jumping into something you can't handle.
Good luck.

im thinking 420a rods wont work in your 2.4. i did see someone supercharge that engine before and made like 240 horse to the wheels. not sure how dependable it was but im sure it was pretty quick. and im with doug here on the $1500 isnt going to get very far.

I'm a mechanic but I am extremely new to mitsubishi's, ask me about a honda I'll tell you anything though. Here's my sitation. My car has a 420a I'm trying to put my 4g63 engine in its place however since I have the engine out and have money and a 2nd car I'm doing a build. The 4g63 already has cams and springs etc on a stock bottom end and injectors. I want to use the galant crank (4g64) to make a longer stroke and build the rest of the short block. Also i realize I said 420a rods I meant 4g63 (I dont know if i can use 63 rods or if i need 64's). Wiseco said that they have 2.4 stroker pistons. Is there anything else I need to know?

I'm new to this site but was wondering if anybody knows where can i get a rebuilt a TCM from for a 96 eclipse spyder 2.4L.

You will get better responses to your request for help by posting in an existing thread similar to your needs like this:
http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251126&highlight=TCU

Or you can use the search feature and use key word combinations like "TCU repair" and find this thread:
http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161964&highlight=TCU+repair
which is by a guy in your own back-yard.

If you hop in to an unrelated thread like this one about a car with a completely different engine and transmission then MOST of the time you wouldn't get the answers you'd be looking for.

Try posting either your own thread or at least in the right section next time and you'll get help alot quicker.

Engine swaps and DSM's don't mix very well. It has been founded to be not worth the time and money involved in that swap for the platform attained. Your 420a is capable of making a decent amount of power. An easier swap (still not a cake-walk) is the 2.4 from a cloud car. You will find gobs of information about that on 2gnt.com.

If you just absolutely must have a 4g63, you may consider buying a DSM that has, or did have, a 4g63 in place.

ya i got a buddy with a beat up all wheel drive talon, and a blown up show room condition 420a eclipse. he tried to put the 4g63 from the talon in the eclipse and make it all wheel drive. however what he DID was ruin 2 cars. and ignore my previous post i thought you were working with the spyder engine.

Right... please see the slough of other threads on this very same topic...

Keep 4G63s and 4G64s in turbo 2G DSMs and 2.0L 420As and 2.4L 420As in N/T 2G DSMs. Swapping the two doesn't make much sense... all you'll end up with is frustration, credit card bills, and a car that's still probably FWD!
