2.4 & 2.0 on cams

hey im really stumped on this one my freind jst finished putting together my 420a motor but the cams on one side say 2.4 & the other 2.0 but they look like 2 left cams and they line up in opposite dirrections, when u put them on 2.4 they line up n/e ways we tried to start it up in it ssounded like it wanted to start but it was a no go ,the throttle body instead of pulling air whut it was doin was like puffs (outward} i think he has to do the time over & fix the cams to 2.0, or whut is it?????????????? it has gas/ spark/ fuses good.............HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need the 2.0 facing outward on the cam gears. The two tick marks on the gears should face each other in the middle when at top dead center., that's how you know if your timing is good...check that first

The 2.0 and 2.4 used the same cam gears, but opposite sides. Like X said, he needs to flip the 2.4 one over to the 2.0 side, then re-time it. If the marks on the cams lined up before then I believe the timing on that cam gear would just be 180 degrees off, causing no damage. Re-time it and get back to us.
