I did the 90-93 intake mod on my 91 tsi this week and i realized the piping was only 2 3/4 inside diameter. i was hoping/thought it was 3". My question is does this sound ok for my 60-1? Everything is running good, pulls nice at 23psi but im wondering if im getting enough air for this thing? I'm pulling 1800HZ on my safc AFTER its corrected for 660s by the gm maft. So the reading is actually a bit higher. What do you guys think?

I did not check the rest of yourmods but they are probably similar to mine and I have pulled 2420Hz at the same amount of boost. I do not attribute it to my 3" intake though. I do have my intake pipe leading to my filter which is placed where the stock IC ws so I draw in denser air which is 1 reason I flowmore Hz. It's simple enough to change to a 3" and not very expensive either. I ould be interested to see if you did pul more air with the larger diameter piping though. Mark

I would cabge the exhaust to a3"system also. Asa rule of thumb each 32Hz =.51lbs/min. This is a ballpark figure subject to atmospheric conditions but it loks like you my be flowing less than 30lbs./min, less than half the potential of the 60-1. I am installng Comp cams 10120's today and a interested to see if i can increase my high of 2520Hz. mark

thanks, you must also remember that i run a gm maft. at the gm maft it is leaned out for 660 injectors, so the reading on the safc is a bit lower than it actually is since its already leaned out before it gets there. I was running a 3" intake before, (very short) about 6 inches, directly infront of the radiator and i was flowing about the same HZ.

I run 650cc injectors and a MAFT. Why don't you go for a 3" exhaust with such a large turbo? I emailed Comp cams asking which cams I shoud use the 100's at 204* duration or the 200's at 212* duration. They said if I chose the smaller duration to change to a smaller turbo!!!
If I get my car running today I will post here the results.Mark

3" is expensive. I got my 2.5 a long time ago and has worked fine for me. I might consider welding up a 3" cat back to open the flow a bit more.

Same question Comp cams asked me, why run a 60-1 and not the big cam or a 3" exhaust? Check out www.kteller.com
You can get a 3"mandrel bent aluminumized exhaust for $415. turbo back.
The Comp cams 101200's idle like stock cams at 900RPM's with a slight loss of vacuum. Power is smooth and broad. Mark

where is this 415$ turbo back system at?

Hit 25xx Hz. Will see if I can get to 2600Hz which I think I can. Will post later or tomorrow. Mark

i ran without the intake today.. same HZ numbers but the car *seemed* to pick up faster and it felt faster.. I think i need to ge a bigger intake.

ok sweet97 you talked me into it.. my buschur 3" turbo back is on the way.. you think i was notice a big difference coming from a 2.5 on my 60-1 to a 3"

Well I'm not one to notice big differences with any mod I have done, not turbo, exhaust or cams but the COMBINATION is what I feel. You should have about 40% more flow capacity and that is significant and the 60-1 is big. I believe I have flowed around 40lbs/nin which is 2/3rds it's potential so there is ore to unleash. Youcan checkmy mds. Mark
