So having a few issues with my car. A couple issues I have noticed is I get knock in first gear just when I lightly take off not flooring it or anything just normal every day driving. normally around 8-10 counts. Another issue last time I went to the track I noticed my data logger showed it maxed out at 224 counts of knock! How is that possible I thought the only variables were 0-43 counts? Any ideas?

Sounds like phantom knock. when I lowered my knock threshholds I was seeing 6-7 counts of knock at 1500rpm. its just engine noise that's being picked up.

you'd have to find out at what RPM and load you're seeing all of this knock.

Have you OHM'd out the knock sensor to see if it is in spec? Any audible knock at any times? How much boost? Any mods? I have a 91 auto with 16G / 450's / MT ECU and I've only seen 1-2 counts of knock before I caught some boost leaks and other maintenance issues... 191K on it. On hard pulls, I usually don't get even one count of knock. However, at a low idle when warmed up I can hear a little valve train noise.

I have not OHM'd the knock sensor yet. I did replace it about 500 miles ago. I can only hear a little lifter noise when I first start it nothing after that. As far as mods it is a 2.3 stroker with 272 cams, T3/T4 turbo, eprom ecu with custom chip, and MAF-T. I was able to adjust my fuel a little better at idle and got it close to 14 range every now and then it will rise to around 16:1. I still need to download my last log to see if it caught any odd knock counts. I'm still not sure how it is possible to receive counts that high. Just finished doing compression and leak down test all was fine. One thing I do question about my boost leak test is when I pressurize from the turbo it leaks out my valve cover. But when I pressurize from intake manifold nothing leaks out. So not sure how it's leaking from valve cover. Thanks again for all the help guys.
