Do I need anything else to run oversized valves. Will they even help by themselves? I don't know shit about internals

You have to get the valves cut and the bowls ported to allow for the bigger valves. And if the head isnt ported for the more flow, its not worth it. In my case, i have a race ported head, so it will like my oversized valves
