1G 1GB Tach Not Accurate

I just got a 1GB Talon TSi and the tach acts very strange. When the car is off the tach sticks at 500rpm, when the car is on and I rev it the tach is very floaty and slow and I know it's not reading accurate. I'm going to try another power transistor here in a bit. But I'm wondering if anyone has any other idea that could help.
 
Is the engine running smooth, no misfires? I have seen the tach read wrong when there are ignition misfires.
