hey guys, according to the threads here, for a 1ga to 1gb rear cosmetic conversion the rear quarter panels are the same...
all i need are
a) the rear side lights
b) the center peice
c) bumper

and the physical attachment should be straightforward? and the turn signal connectors have to be spliced.
thats all i could pull out.

lemme know.

yea, 3 peices, plus bumper im guessing. and yes i do mean a 92-94 rear cosmetic conversion of a 90 gsx.

as i am getting real close to finishing my conversion, i would like to know how many people have actually done this and find out how hard they thought it was. i guess you could say mine will not be complete because i have left the doors, hatch and spoiler. i thought it woul just make it easier and give it a unique look.

if you can find a rolling chassis real cheap it would help. if not you will spend a lot of time at the junk yard. everyone i have seen post about this says that you just need the bumper, fenders, lights. you will also need the mounts for the lights. they are spot welded on. you will need to remove yours and add the ones from the 92-94. i found it easier to use self tapping screws to reinstall the brackets. the rear bumper bracket is also different. also i would suggest cutting the lighting connectors and splice them back into your car. any questions i would be glad to answer.

I am done with mine. I converted just my rear to the 92 style talon rear. I just got to get it painted now. Wasn't all that difficult. Just a little cutting by the taillights, and some wiring for the rear lights, and it works perfect.

if you remove the 1ga bumper bracket and use the 1gb then it requires no modification to the tail lights.

wiring is not that difficult. just match and combine like color wires.

I didn't do any modification to the taillights themselves. The only thing I had to cut was that flat metal piece that my old bumper attached to. I had to cut it because the new bumper doesn't just go straight across. The taillights dip down lower in the middle for the license plate, so I had to cut that spot. Wiring was easy. There's probably a few different ways to do it. I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out.

That is the only picture I have that shows what I had to cut. The top of the old bumper just went straight across the entire length. There is a little metal lip that stuck out for the bumper to attach to. Well this new bumper dips down, so I just cut that lip, and then pounded it down flat. You can kind of see it there, it's just pounded down flat against the car.

Nice look keeping the 1ga front and adding the 1gb Talon rear. :thumb: Very unique. I like it so much I'd almost do it if I weren't spending all my money on repairs/speed/turning. ;) :thumb:

im thinking about doing that to my gsx but i wanna do 1gB ECLIPSE rear or at least just the lights. how about that? should be straight forward right? doesnt really look like theres anything crazy imma need to do just to swap tail lights
