All 1g wheel and tire size questions from the newbie sections are merged here.

hi,
i am interested in putting 18" motegi MR-7 wheels on my 1991 plymouth laser. my only problem is i do not know if they will fit in the wheel well with tires. if anyone out there has 18" wheels on their laser....please let me know so and also tell me what size tire you have on the wheel. i would also like to know how snugly they fit in the wheel well. if 18's dont fit i guess i will have to go for 17 inch wheels. what is a good size tire that would fit a 17" wheel?

thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me

My 1992 GSX has 225 tires on its 16in rims. I never gave it a second thought on being too big. With my TA when I had 225s they looked skinny as hell, the 275s look much better. So I guess I just had it in my mind that 225 was skinny.

I searched and found that 225/40/18s will fit using a 18x7.5" wheel with +42mm offset. Question is, can I fit a 235/40/18 on the same rim without rubbing the strut body or anything else? 92 GSX, setup will be using Sportlines and AGXs. Thanks.

Not a problem if the 235s won't fit, I just wanted a little more contact patch and a smidge extra sidewall height.

Nevermind, I finally found a site member with pictures of a 1g with 235/40/18s on his car. Even if he was running a 40 mm offset, I'll just get 2mm spacers and it'll be all good.

I think I might go with the 225/40/18 just to be on the safe side, though it would be nice to have a bit more rubber. The 225 combo is a "safe" size wherease the 235s may require a little massaging to work. Decisions...

with all wheel drive, that extra little bit really doesnt mean much anyway, you already got 3 feet of rubber on the road for traction

Hey, on ebay thers an auction for a set of "blitz wheels"...they are these dimensions

BACK 275/40 zr 17

Front 235/45 zr 17

i have a front wheel drive so would differnt size tires be ok? and would those wheels fit the bolt pattern?

we need more info like a picture for starters, and asking if it would fit the bolt pattern is useless since you ddin;t put any info on that.

BTW the numbers above are for tires not wheels

but for your info 235/45 will rub against the control arm already

^^^ HAHA, I was just about to say that.....

yeah coming from a mustang that had 245's stock I didn't figure it would. Oh well. Dunno why nitto makes them so wide in a 16.
