i have a 1g talon tsi and so far ive been through 2 oil return lines. the original cracked at the flex part of the tube and the same happened to the new one i bought about a month ago. i was wondering if this was a somewhat normal problem due to quality mitsubishi parts or just bad luck. i plan on fixing it by cutting the flex out and just putting in a piece of neoprine hose and clamping it, i figured it would be ok since its just a return line and theres no pressure there.

yeah thanks. thats what i figured. its just i dont have many dsm guys around where i live and not that many people around here know a lot about them either so its kinda like i figure out and do stuff on my own.

I know it isnt under pressure but wouldnt heater hose swell up or get spongy after time?

Heater hose doesn't work. Get steel braid or tranny coolant hose. Pretty much any high pressure oil/hydo line will work great. Just no heater hose.

Look further... When it happened to me, I did the same thing, but I also noticed a vibration in my car, which caused those things to break. It could be that the BS belt is broken, at least mine was. I got lucky that it didn't get into my timing belt...

Also, make sure you get a hose that will work for your turbo. I have a GT35 with 10 steel braid. It's like 5/8ths hose. But yea, heater hose doesn't work.
