Will the 1g awd transmission swap into the 2g awd dsm?

The answer is: Yes but NO!

The yes part is that it will bolt up to the block and everything would work just fine if that's all you had to worry about.

The no part is that the 2g has the front and rear motor mounts on the trans. The 1g has them on the block. Therefore if you were to put the 1g trans in the 2g you wouldn't be able to mount the engine to anything since the motor mount provisions are not there on the 1g trans also the passenger's side mount is setup different on the 2g also.

You can however put a 2g trans in a 1g without many problems at all.

I have a 92 trans in my 98. I was only able to do it cause I have a 6 bolt engine and welded provsions for the 1g front and rear mounts on the car. The biggest issue is using 2g shift cables on a 1g trans.
