1G Throttle Body re-bore/63mm or 65mm?

On a 90 model I guess you can fill it with epoxy. I could probably do a 90 model if my lathes had larger swing. I could jam a strip of rag or something into the fiav opening to keep the chips out but those vacuum tubes and the non-removable fiav require a lathe that can swing over 12" diameter work. That's at least a $3K investment when I already have that in what I have here now. Seemed like 90 models wouldn't be in much demand due to the sensor availability but I'll look into getting machine time at a friends shop if the demand is enough.
Thanks
Steve

If you aren't in a hurry and if it's worth $150 incl shpg to you, I'll talk to my friend. He owns a turbocharger repair shop in Okc, OK and I'd have to have the TB here so I could be able to drive over there whenever they have no lathe work going on. (I might need the TB for 2-3 weeks to fit the work into his schedule)
Anybody else? The price would be lower if we could get several more TBs to machine.
Thanks
Steve

I didn't spend a lot of time looking for a suitable gasket but you can't use the factory ones when the bore is 63mm. I think most are just applying a skim coat of sensor safe RTV, etc.
Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve, remember me? You worked on my 90 throttle body last year, I believe it was the first 90 TB you ever worked on and you were having some trouble with it due to equipment issues. The TB never did work for me, the plate did fit the bore at all and was sticking at about 25% throttle, the shaft seals also was leaking bad. I ended up removing the plate again to file the plate down and change all new shaft seal myself but I sand it down too much, even with the IPS backed out all the way, I can't bring the idle down below 1200. I ended up buying another stock TB. I didn't contact you because I didn't install the TB until 6 months after your bore job due to other projects but since I see that you're now actively pushing your bore jobs on Tuners, I have two questions for you.

1. Are you now up to par as far as the equipment is concern for DSM TB boring jobs so that none of our members will run into the same issues as I did?

2. Is there anything you can/willing to do about my TB you worked on which has been sitting on my desk since, I would really like to get this properly fixed so I can have 63mm bore on my setup?

Thank you for your response on this matter.

Well...no feedback - no resolution. Yours was one of or the first DSMs I ever did and I did not have a source for the shaft seals at that time. I basically could only machine the bore at that time. I'm not sure why the blade was sticking but it being among the first of the DSMs I did, maybe I didn't preload the throttle spring the correct amount.
I'm sorry this matter was brought up here of course but the important thing is to correct it. Email me for my address and I'll do the repairs or refund if it isn't repairable. I'll also repay the shpg.
Thanks
Steve

Steve, I really appreciate that you stand behind your work 100% :thumb: and I'm sorry to have brought this up on this thread under these circumstances, I should have emailed you instead. :coy: Since it was my fault for not installing it until after 6 months later, I will pay for shipping myself. Thanks again. :thumb:

Good pic & info DSM90AWD. I'm saving that in my throttle body folder. :thumb:

Hello DSM'ers,
Just an FYI for anyone interested. I'm now able to offer 1990 throttle body machining & rebuilding service. Cost is $150 and includes full disassembly, cleaning, beadblasting, machining bore to 63mm, new shaft seals, FIAV gasket & biss screw O-ring, . I'll pay the return shpg also.
Those interested in having only the bore enlarged and new shaft seals installed, I can also provide that service for $100 shpd.
Thanks
Steve Monroe
