1G TB in a 2G - EGR Issue

Here's the story. Got 5 of 8 readiness monitors working - and so since I do Texas decides that 96-2000 cars now need 6 of 8. So I wanted to try and get my EGR working/ready. I have a 6 bolt engine. 1G Intake Manifold, 1G Throttle Body. I put an EGR Valve on, and hooked up all of the vacuum hoses just the way this guy did 92 and 98 Throttle Body Map + EGR Vacuum Diagram and now the car idles kind of low, it also (after driving steady for a bit) will idle down to almost 0 RPM and die or just barely catch itself, but it has died/cut out a couple of times. This happens when I let off the gas and have shifted into Neutral. Is it possible that the EGR itself is screwed up/leaking/stuck open?

Have you tried turning the idle up by screwing the base idle screw out?

Yeah, but it still does it. I've read some that if the EGR is stuck open it can cause the car to stall out like that.

Plug the vacuum lines going to the EGR and see what happens. Also, take the EGR valve off and clean it good.

Is your FIAV working? That's the usual culprit of idle issues. Otherwise it could probably be that your ISC is dead and stuck in a far open position; I took mine apart and adjusted it to about the middle by hand.

My FIAV is blocked off with no ISC. When I had the EGR Block off plate it idled just fine and would recover just fine. I've got another EGR coming tomorrow. Guess I'll test that one before I put it on and see what the deal is.
