ok so i searched and searched the sight but i couldnt find any info on a swap from a 1.8 to a 2.0 in a 1g eclipse can anyone share any info on the subject.
i have the skills and training to do the swap but dont know what all i will need

i was searcking for a front clip but all i could find is a gsx and they wanted 2k and i would still need a trans.

:confused:2.0t? or 2.0n/t?

I would like turbo but cash flow will probably say non turbo

I did the swap, what did you want to know exactly?

Anything and everything. What do I need to do the swap. Where can I find a donor car so I don't nickel and dime myself to death. Any tips or tricks. How long to do the swap. difficulty of the swap. Can I use my trans or do I need a different one

ok so i got a good idea and its about what i thought it would be but what about wiring. how much spliceing do i need to do. and where is the best place to do it. and finaly, where is a good donor at that will last a bit but will not break the bank

To be honest, with the age of our cars (specifically the 6 bolt motors) it's going to be damn near impossible to find one that's going to be dependable for another 100K miles at this point, without some sort of refreshing. Your best bet would be to find a cheap turbo 1g as a donor car. (either wrecked, or what have you). Rebuild the motor, swap the motor, trans, and wiring harness. The wiring is either simple or hard, depending on what you want to do. You don't have to splice into anything if you just swap out the entire turbo engine harness. (or a pain in the ass if you decide not to just swap harnesses, which I strongly suggest you just swap harnesses). Sounds difficult, but it's not. You just simply unplug everything, and reconnect it. (harness plug wise, you don't need to cut anything). Under the hood you have all your engine stuff. The fuse box only has 2 plugs. One is a single 10 gauge wire, the other contains a couple wires (not hard to match those 2 plugs up). Under the dash there are 3 for the computer, 1 that goes to the ignition / dash, and 1 that goes to the MPI relay, again, they are all different, so not hard there. (they are all located behind the center console where the radio and ecu are). There is also a couple plus that go where the passenger would normally rest there right leg (kick panel), same deal there, all the plugs are different from one another, just match them up.

As far as what you need, hand tools, a cherry picker, etc. Same tools you would find in a mechanics tool set (like a Craftsman 150+ piece tool set). A Haynes manual would also be very helpful and handy. You can also PM with any questions you have. How long I would say if this is your first time with a DSM, give it about 1 day out and 1 day in. A long weekend should be reasonable, possibly a little longer depending on your motivation. Difficulty I'd say is pretty easy (for me anyway) it's really just taking the old stuff out, and putting the new stuff back in. Your car (I assume) is the 1.8L, that being so, your trans WILL NOT fit. There is just to much BS involved with getting the clutch / flywheel / starter stuff to work right that makes it worthless.

The classifieds section on here is a good place. You could also try craigslist, ebay, or dsm source. If we lived closer I'd do the swap for you for cheap or at least provide all the assistance you'd need in person. You can always PM me or post on the forums. You should be able to get a "rebuildable" 1g turbo car for less then $1500.

i found a 1993 hundi sonata 2.0 with only 63k it is the same motor but i dont know about harness still got to search that out. i have done some reaserch and the n/t 1.8 and 2.0 trans are the same well same trans codes so to keep the cost down for now i am sticking with n/t. so all i need now is harness and computer. i will take pics and wright up a step by step for others interested. should start the sawp soon. selling my suburban to pay for extras like cat back and header and such and clear out room. that was the compromise with the wife LOL

by the way know anything about the n/t transmissions the codes are the same but are they the same?? i think i also seen someware on here that they are but want to make sure.
