I recently bought a 94 Eclipse with the 1.8 motor. It seems pretty fast to me because its still new to me, but i have had a few people telling me not to waste my money tuning the 1.8, and to just go for the 2.0 turbo swap. I know that the turbo engine would probably cost me a lot and i dont exactly have tons of money to spare(since im a high school junior). I would be just fine with the N/T 2.0, its also probably the cheaper option. I dont really know how difficult and expensive it would be to get the N/T. Exactly what all would be required(parts, tools, etc),and about how much money would it take to do the N/T 2.0 swap? :dsm: :thumb:

Selling it and buying a turbo model or a 2.0 then turboing that would be your best two bets.
Don't honestly think that swap is easy bro.

Because sadly it's supposedly as hard doing that swap as it is swapping a 4g63 into a 2gnt.

Dont #### with it.

He is right, I would not spend the time and money to get a turbo motor put in, you will need a new tranny, ECU, an intercooler and god knows what else.

For the amount of money you would spend putting a turbo 4g63 or even the NT 2.0 motor in that thing you could buy a turbo model and put a few mods on it. Seriously 1gs in good shape can be found for 2,000-3,000 bucks. Bought mine for 2500.

So thats my suggestion. Drive that car for a while save up some dough and get a decent price for it. Find a turbo model.

By the way if youre wondering, the 1.8 makes about 90 hp. But at least you will get good gas mileage.

Im thinkin of just makin it a show car, but i want to make the 1.8 a little faster. Do yall have any ideas on how to make the 1.8 gain some significant HP without having to practiacally rebuild the engine. I got an aftermarket muffler welded on and regular maintenance done on it, but nothing major yet. I was thinkin about Injen intake but im not sure if it still incorporates that huge computer piece that is inside the intake box, and i dont want to take it off and screw something up. Please help me come up with some ideas for more power. :dsm:

Even rebuilding it won't get you much. It's just not enough displacement. Neither is two liters, but if you start cramming three liters worth of fuel and air into it and burn it well, you can make up for it.

Cut your losses now. You're trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Even a perfect show car will have everyone who looks at it thinking to themselves, "Too bad it's not a turbo".
