I know a lot of DSM owners hate the very thought of actually putting money into their suspension setup. They will easily drop $4k on a turbo/manifold setup for their DSM, but start talking about a real suspension and most guys eyes seem to glaze over and their wallets snap shut. I am trying to help change the perception that 1g's can't be built to handle well. I want to follow in the footsteps of the few brave souls around here who have built their 1g's for road race action. These cars were actively road raced when they first came out (Archer Racing, Paul Rossi etc....) and I want to try and get back to those roots.

Right now my GSX is sitting as I purchased the car - Koni yellows and unknown (but I suspect megan) springs along with 16 inch wheels and 225 Nitto 555Rs. My suspension plans are as follows:

Phase 1 (parts already purchased):

New Bushings everywhere including rear subframe and mustache bar.
Avid Motor Mounts
Whiteline rear sway bar
Moog Ball joints
Moog Sway Bar End Links
Camber adjustable Rear Lower Control Arms (teflon coated bearings)
Front Camber Bolts
Jay Racing Toe Eliminator kit
Misc boots/bushings as needed (steering rack etc)

While everything is pulled apart I am going to try and have the parts blasted and coated again for protection. All of the above is merely prep work for the next phase:

Phase 2 (once I'm not broke from phase 1):

Muellerized Ohlins coilover setup

I have read the impressions of the couple people here who have them and I'm hoping they perform as advertised.

I would welcome any input on my suspension plans. Are there any parts I missed? Should I be working on obtaining an EVO rear differential? Swap to a manual steering rack? Etc....

Thanks. :thumb:

Dan,

Avoid the Moog SBEL's. They have a servicable fitting that will rub the outer CV boot through. Go with the Driveworks end links, or OEM. If you need help with any of the installs let me know!
