1g needs major help

alrighty my friend just bought a 90 tsi talon and it's got some major problems we've both been looking on all forums and couldn't find anything like this first problem is the altenator bolt that is on the bottom near the power steering belt keeps popping out when ever he drives it the bolt when popped out is almost touching the belt but it just sits there still attached. second problem is does anybody know ruffly how much a headgasket and 1st and 2nd snycros are going to be his are going to blow any day know and it's pretty hard to shift sometimes. and does anybody know of a fourm that shows how to replace the syncros at all. were on a diy mission and really need this car to run.

1. There should be a nut, or a threaded hole on the back of both bolts holding the alternator on..put crush washers on them and torque them on.

2. A headgasket itself will cost around $100...but labor will get you. If you are on a DIY mission, it'll cost you the part and maybe a day of work. It would also be a good idea to replace your timing belt components when you do the job as it all has to come off anyways.

dude thanks your are my new best friend it took us all last night to try and get that bolt hooked up right but still wouldn't work was gonna do a jb weld job but we knew it wouldn't work. thanks for the help gonna try that tonight.

To second the 2nd poster, a lock washer is definately needed there. The bolt is actually the alternator pivot bolt, and unless it is secured on the engine side under tension it will definately work it's way out sometime. When I pulled mine apart it already had a cut-ring washer in there to begin with.
