My question is, is it worth pulling the head off and gasket matching the intake ports with the manifold runners and not go ahead and get the whole head ported and polished. I don't have the money to go and do all that after buying my new turbo setup (FP 3052). I would be gasket matching the head myself as I am pretty confident in my porting work. I would not be going deep in the port ...just matching up the size of the port inlet. Next year I plan on getting a stage 5 head possibly from slowboy.

I really want to try this 1G mani out with this turbo, but I would hate to do all that work and not see any gains....or maybe hurt performance.

Ok thanks for your help then.

I went through 500 posts about the 1G manifold and porting and found no definative answers...so I thought I would fire the question out again. I apologize.

The 1G mani has larger runners than the head does. Therefor, its going to go from big to small, and a lot of the air is going to smack a wall. It will probably hurt it more than help. 1G TB and port match the 2g manifold is probably a better idea.

Yes I know that the runners of the 1G manifold and the ports of the 2G head are way different in size. My concern is if I match them up and do nothing to the rest of the port or head am I going to see any thing detrimental to performance or head flow.

edit: I already have the 60mm TB and ported opening of the 2G manifold.

if your going to go though all that trouble just to take the head off I would just go with the 1g head and port match it. Theres no way you can smooth the transtion of the 1g intanke to the 2g head with out seriously cutting into the head, thiers that much of a difference in the port sizes.
