I have a couple questions rolled into one....

1. i am planning on doing a 6bolt swap on my 2G and was wondering if i could use the 1G intake on it considering

2. can i use the 2G head on the 6bolt

i plan on doing this because i have a 2G head that im in the process of rebuilding and when i swap it into the 2G with the 6bolt i was to go with a sheet metal intake but i want to use the Intake Manifold Heat Barrier Gasket from SBR and its only available with the 1G so i want to make sure all this is going to work together

Yes definetly.
I beleive that DSMJim said that the new choice of power for several people is a 2G ported head on a 6 bolt block.
NO you cannot use just the 2G intake manifold with the 1G head.
Do a lot more reasearch.
Use the serach function, it is there to answer these questions that get asked over and over again.

Give feedback if this post helps.

i guess that i didnt put in specific enough search terms because i didnt find the specific anwser...

i should have read it a little more carefully i want to put a 2G head on a 6bolt block with a 1G sheet metal intake

Sorry I ment a 1G manifold on a 2G head
Why do you need the 1G SMIM specifically? Is it because you are going to use a larger 1G TB on your setup? Or was there some other reasoning to your thought (larger runners on the plenum)?
If you do this the you could always get the manufacturer of the SMIM to make the opening of the SMIM larger to suit your needs. Or you could do this yourself with a burr bit and a gasket.

Leave feedback if this post helps.

regardless if it's a 1g or 2g SMIM, most companies that produce these already have the larger bore included on the SMIM themselves. They usually start at 60mm and go bigger if you're using an different (accufab) TB.

to make things clear:

YOU CAN use a 2g head on a 1g block, but you need to have the headbolt holes enlarged from 11mm to 12mm to accomodate 6 bolt headbolt/rods.

YOU CAN use a 1g SMIM on a 2g head, but it makes no sense to. if you will, the inlet size of a 2g head is (this is for demonstration purpose only) 1" x 3" vs. a 1g inlet which is closer to a 2.5" x 3". IF you use a 1g SMIM (or any 1g intake) on a 2g head (and the head is not ported), it will cause a ridge in airflow. once the air stream hits this ridge, it will cause turbulance and will probably be more of detriment than a benefit. THIS is the reason why I stuck with the 2g intake manifold and the 2g head, and opted NOT to put my 1g IM on.

**side note.. it's more clear to understand when you have the 1g IM next to the runners of a 2g head. I had a spare head to mess around with and I began to port the runners out to the 1g runner size. it is VERY apparent that if you port the 2g head to match the 1g gasket, you will weaken the head AND hit water jackets...

to answer your original questions also.. if you use the "heat barrier gasket" aka phenolic spacer, it will not benefit you much when the intake leaks.

phew.. that was too much typing. hope it helps though

the second link that instructs how to use a 1G head on a 2G would have been useful before i left maryland... i bought a heat not paying attention to what it was and got a 1st gen.

thanks for all the answers... the reason i wanted to use the 1G mani was because i could only find a "heat blocking" intake gasket for the 1G but i guess that i'll find something to use

many vendors carry heat barrier gaskets, which space out the contact between the intake manifold and the back of the block. i would give some vendors a call because some of thier websites arent always as up to date as they should be.
