Ok guys,

I know there are a lot of threads on this already but i'm really stumped here...

My horn doesn't work. I have been using a volt meter to trouble shoot and have been checking for DC voltage.

I have checked the 10amp fuse inside the car it's good. I swapped the anitheft relay with the relay right next to it and didn't get any results. I'm not even sure if this car has antitheft or not but the relay is there.

Voltage at the steering wheel is 3.9v between the red wire and the metal in the wheel. Should this be at 12v?

Voltage at either horn connection (theres horns on right and left) is 0v. When I go from either one of the horn connectors to the positive battery terminal I get 12v. Does this mean the ground is good or bad? I have been taping down the red wire at the steering wheel to metal contact when testing and have the key in the on position.

Not sure what to do. My first question would be is how many fuses/relays are involved in the horn setup? Right now I only see the ones inside the car on the drivers side. I need to get this thing inspected, anyone know a quick way to run just a push button set up bypassing the horn connection in the steering wheel?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply,

I have the horn cover off the steering wheel and I am just touching the red wire to the metal to troubleshoot. I see the wire goes deeper into the steering column, is there something in there I should check?

As far as the actual horn unit, I bought a replacement before I was checking for voltage so I have a new horn already.

if you can just try hooking up and external horn just so you can get inspected then after that id go through all your relays again and wires. check anything under the hood maybe your actual horn went bad.

Ok,

I gave up on chasing voltage and just bought a big ugly horn button and hardwired the new horn direct to the battery. I mounted the button under my steering column to keep it out of the way. Texas law just states that it must be accessible and mounted so there you go LoL. Now I can try for inspection. I guess this works out because I have plans to by an aftermarket steering wheel anyways and now won't have to mess with horn wiring.

Thanks for the replies!
