1G 1g FWD fuel sending unit works out of tank not in tank

1g Talon FWD, grounded the pins with harness removed gauge goes to full, pulled fuel sending unit, plugged it in key on goes to 3/4 full, tried to ohms test pins get no readings, tested ground from pin to top of wire no breaks, tested both other pins same no breaks, adjusted tabs so it goes to full when out of tank and to empty and fuel light comes on. But when in tank just shows empty. It has ground power and power to dummy light.

Anything else i can test,or a link to order an aftermarket one that bolts in there since the stock ones are non existent any more
