1g compression test.

can someone please post a detailed article on how to do a Compression Test on the 4g63 engine in the tech articles. How do you disable the fuel and everything else? I have the Hayne's book but they are a little vague when it comes to some descriptions. This sounds stupid, but do you crank the engine by hand or by starting it with the ignition? Ignition right?
