I have a pair of 1G cams that have been sitting around for awhile. I started replacing my timing belt, water pump, pulleys etc. today and figured this would be a good time to install them. Anyhow, I have the exhaust cam with me but in my haste to leave yesterday, left the intake cam at my apartment 4.5 hours away.

Should I even bother putting 1G cams in a stock 2G head? I'm pretty sure .010" more lift isn't going to make a huge difference, but if it's noticeable..... Also, will I see any gains from just putting the 1G exhaust cam in for now, and then putting the intake cam on later? I can only work on my car once every 3-4 months so if putting just putting the exhaust cam on is going to make a difference, I'd rather do it now.

thanks

Check the revisions of the cams in the model number. Revision "C" and "D" are the most aggressive 1G cams. I had a set in my old 2G head, and I swapped those over to my 1G head when I put that on my motor. You're not going to notice huge gains, but they do give you a little more power up top without sacraficing much in the way of low end or idle. They're nice cams if you don't want to go all out 272's. I would also do both the intake and exhaust if I had to do anything. No sense in pulling the timing belt and cam gears twice.

Matt.

I agree, do both of them. Since your timing belt is off anyways, its only a few more bolts for an easy install. Though it might not be a huge upgrade, they are worth the small price and an extra 10-15 minutes of work to install.

I noticed a decent gain in my powerband after switching to '93 M/T cams from '90 M/T cams. I'd go for it.
