whats goin on guys, i finally bought my first tsi.
First off, i bought the car pretty cheap, it needs a bit of work but still decided to buy it. When i test drove this car, it drove very good... I noticed that the header was hanging on very loosely. One of the bolts holding it in place was half way out. It was a big leak of exhaust that would come out of this area. I bought the car started driving it home and started notcing everytime I would boost the car it would start to act funny. The car would studder back and forth everytime i boosted it. It started to get so bad that I couldnt reallly give it a lot of gas or it would do the same thing. I tried driving the car in low rpms with out using the turbo but i couldnt keep up with traffic. I pulled over and parked the car. Next day I came back rented a uhaul truck and hitch and towed it myself back home. I got it home and immediatly took of the header, turbo, and valve cover. The turbo is in really good shape surprisingly. No Shaft play, pretty clean. I did notice cracks in the 02 housing and the header.
Im looking online rite now for an 02 housing and i already have a 2g header im gettin off a friend. Basically my question is, Could the car have been running so shatty beacuse of the leak in the header and the cracks in the 02 housing? the plugs were pretty clean, headgasket seems fine. I checked coolant color= green. Im thinking it was mainly the header and o2 housing... Anybody ever had a problem like this or have any suggestions?
Also would this o2 housing fit my current 14b turbo and go good with the 2g header?
