1G AWD tranny for $175...worth it regardless of condition?

I need a new tranny and can get one for $175. I don't know its condition, he says it grinds second when it's cold out. Should I buy it? I think it's a good price whatever happens.

No I don’t think its worth it at all. In fact why don’t you give me that guy’s contact information so I can tell him how I really feel about him

IMO for that price you cant lose. At absolute worst you can use some of the internals for another rebuild. If it’s older it might have the big shaft in it for the double cone syncro second gear and that along would make it more than worth it.
