This is my GF's 1ga auto..... Was installing a shift kit last night...
First stopped because the spacer plate was worn.
Took a closer look at the pan and found this... See pic....
Then found the source of where some wire is coming from.. see pic...

Funny thing is the car shifts good.....however when put into drive and let off the brake the car will roll forward and when you press the throttle you feel a clunk like it wasn't fully engaged and your off.

The wire is coming from the port on the lower bottom right behind valve body (side closest to converter, closest to bottom)
Looks like its runs parallel with the outer cover that is below the end clutch cover. Does anyone have any advice? Is this repairable while trans is in car? What exactly is it?

Thank You

Is that the center bearing stopper bolt(the gold 10mm)? And is it coming from that opening? It looks like a snap ring? I could be mistaken it's hard to tell by the orientation of the picture.

Yes wire is coming out of there, I just pulled some pieces out of it now. Believe it is the center diff,.... not sure though. Have end clutch off and cover below it off too. It looks like it runs in line with the output shaft of the transfer case....

Its right above the big drain bolt on bottom of tranny.

Quick question, at the top left of that photo is your gear selector. There should be two things that look like the thing that holds clothes pins together. I will be posting a pic in a minute.

Do you see what I am looking at? There is one that is straight and then there is one that follows the contour there. Also that is your viscous coupler. I believe that there is a stopper ring there between the center bearing retainer and the viscous coupler. But, it is pretty thick, it kind of looks like the snap ring thats behind the kickdown drum, but if it is coming from there...then that is the wrong location. I wish you were local and I could look at it for you, it is hard to tell when your not there looking...
