Hi, I wasnt able to post in the other forums because of permissions, so I figure I do it here.
I've had the car for about 3 months now. And lately it hasn't been able to boost past 10 psi and just stumbled. Checked the plugs last week and they were gapped to .50. I gapped to .28 and the car seemed fine!
Just last weekend the car felt like it was misfiring and and stumbled lots on idle.
I pulled over, and noticed the # 2 plug wire was popped up a bit. I suspected the spark plug but was completely seized.
Got the car towed home and was able to carefully remove the plug. The tip was completely gone as I suspected, and some of the threads were fuzed together.
(bad focus from the iPhone)
I was able to carefully remove the seized plug and got all new plugs in but the car still idled really bad.
Some things I did to try and diagnose:
- Replaced all plugs
- Replaced Coil Pack & Plug Wires
- Checked MAF
- Checked ISC
- Replaced fuel filter
- Checked ECU (Caps look brand new, but had some burn marks on the daughter board)
- Checked fuel injectors with stethoscope
Finally did a compression test and everything tested 190 across the board. Unfortunately #2 was 0.. no compression at all

New Plugs when pulled out for compression test. # 2 was completely clean.
Im suspecting a bent valve, as the exhaust doesnt blow blue so it must not be rings / piston.
Im not quite sure what do next. Pretty new to this car.
- Should I perform a leak down test? (no air compressor or tester)
- If it is the valves, do I need to pull out the head to replace, or just the cams and valve cover?
- Any other possibility that it could be something else besides the valve? Cracked head?
Here are the pictures from the ECU - sorry for the bad pics couldn't get the phone to focus properly.
