I'm looking for a set of rims for my 96 GST because I have very nasty 17's on the car right now(not the rims in my profile pics). I see the biggest most people go is 18's, but I'm considering 19's. Here is a link to the rims I'm looking at purchasing:

I realize they will be slightly heavier than 18's or 17's for that matter, but I really like the way they look and I think they would set off the new Lemans Blue paintjob on the car. Any opinions?
Thanks,
Dustin

I'm not a big fan of chrome wheels or anything over a 17, but they should look alright. I don't think that you will be happy with 19's. If the car is lowered at all you are going to have some major issues with the tire rubbing. I think that you would be happy with 18's, I would definately think it over.

Its been done..myself I run on 18" and it still has enough room..you start running into problems if you lower it too much, but I've seen DSMs run 19" rims with no problems except that it rides alittle rougher..(also its been beaten to death in other threads..use the search)

Chvykc and Eclipse95, I'm 110% sure they'll fit on my car, if you looked at the picture of the car in my profile, that was just before I bought it, when the previous owner had 19's on it. I really like the way they look and he had no troubles at all with clearance. As for you not liking chrome, to be honest I'm not much a fan either. I'm making an exception this time because I honestly would think that the chrome would look awesome with the deep Lemans Blue. I personally think it sets the car off much more than white, silver, gun metal, or hyper light would. The car is only lower 1.7" and it really does ride phenomenal for being lowered, almost better than stock!

DSMSpyder99, perfect!:thumb: My order plans seem to be pretty accurate because I plan on 19x8 with a 45mm offset and some 225/35/19 Toyo Proxes4's. In the end its going to cost me about $1395 between rims and tires. Comes with free shipping via UPS Ground, free mounting and balancing, and should take about 7 days to get to me.

Now if that damn IRS would hurry up and give me my money!

I say go for it then. Let us know how it comes out and try to get some pics of the car with them on there. I would like to see how it turns out :thumb:

19 work i had 19s on my rs but its to much money in tires and every pot hole your hoping the rubber bands you have for tires are still on the car. go with 18s

I have 19x8 Axis Hagens on mine, and lowered about 2.5 inches from stock and I haven't had any problems with rubbing. Do make sure that you get reinforced sidewall tires though because potholes suck, I am running Toyo Proxes T1-S 235/35/ZR19.

eeeeh 19x8 with a 45mm offset is gonna be VERY close to the control arm...ask WRET if this is a good combo

The wheels will fit. It's the tires the give people headaches.

Hey! I'm the guy you bought the car off of. I had the 19 inch Axis Spider with 235/35/zr19 on it, and I loved the looks and didnt mind the ride at alll. Since that car is so low, the 19s bring it up a tad which worked well for me. hope that helps, i like you choice of rims, i would def. go with them. hey also wanted to ask you, ive got a person you would like to pay 12thousand for the car. This person came and saw the car and really wants it. Lettme know if you wanna sell it and gimme a grand off the sale. hehe.. enjoy that car.
