Mississauga,
I’ve done quite a bit of searching for this issue I am having and not much has been documented plus these threads are dated back in 2002 so I thought id give it another shot. I’m trying to swap my fuel pump with a walbro 255 and I’m reading the guide on 2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Installation which is great but on my 99 gs-t my fuel pump has an extra wire harness attached to it. My questions are:
1 What exactly is this extra harness?
2 I don’t know how to remove it, plus there is not enough hand room. There are 2 screws that allow it to mount onto the fuel pump assembly can I just unscrew those?
3 Will the rewiring and swap be the same method as the one explained on 2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Installation Or will there be a difference?

Thanks in advance. Help is much appreciated.

I haven't had the FP out of my '99 GST but I do have the real Mitsu diagrams (and FWD is wired differently than AWD). They show a 2 pin connector for the FP and a 3 pin connector for the fuel tank differential pressure sensor both going to the fuel pump assembly.

ooohh.. so the other wire harness im seeing is a the wiring for the pressure sensor. thanks.
so the swap and rewiring should be the same procedure another 2g, 99 owners just have to deal with the extra harness by disconnecting it then attaching it during assembly.

That harness shown in my manual goes to the sensor mounted on the cover plate. It has a 3 pin connector (wires black, green/yellow, blue/white). I don't know if it goes beneath the cover onto the FP assembly itself or not. I wouldn't think so but if it does you should connect it up the same way. I would think this would be on all 2g FWD years.

I installed the fuel pump yesterday and everything is running fine. The three pin harness is easily removed by unscrewing the 2 screws that hold it down, it dosnt not get in the way. The rest of the procedure is already documented on 2G DSM FWD Fuel Pump Installation website. Just wanted to let you know if you decide to replace your pump in the future.
Thanks again for you input
