Will a 1999 Eclipse 4G63T engine fit in my 97 Eclipse GST 5 speed? Im about to by the Engine it has 56,000 k miles on it but the seller keeps asking me what is the production date of my vehicle which I told him it is October 1996 (1997).
Is there two different Eclipse 4G63T engines Between 1997 and 1999? Will it even fit in my car?

The motor will fit and I believe the 97-99 have the same wiring harness and ecu as well so it should just be a straight forward swap.

Does the head have a cam sensor on passenger side or behind cam gear on drivers side? For a 97-99 should be on passenger meaning it'll go straight in. If cam sensor is behind cam gear then it's different wiring unfortunately

Should be straightforward. For those of you mentioning wiring differences it doesnt matter so long as whatever sensors on the receiving car bolt up. For instance six bolt in a 2g is odd because you cant use a cas sensor ftom 95 96 as it will not bolt up. Neither will the crank sensor from any year 2g. If the sensors swapped over there would be no need for changes. In the case of the OPS question nothing should change.
