1998 GSX rebuild(kinda)

Well the other day I took my turbo off to install my tubular manifold, got it all back together and she was running great. Well about 1 hour after the install I was headed to friends house and started to boost a little bit the turbo sounded like a supercharger,so when I got to my buddies house I took the intake pipe off and there was metal shavings in the housing and the wheel was hard to turn and one was slightly bent. So we loaded the car onto the trailer and brought her home,got her into the garage and this is now how she sits.


Couple of these pics show how the oil filter housing put a hole in my lower intercooler pipe and the broken cable off of it.

Is that the oil pressure sensor? How'd you bung up the intercooler piping? Man, I wish you luck. Maybe it's karmas way of saying "You are going to slow, get something faster."

Ha Ha well man, it has turned into a full on build now the wifey said I could go get a 2500 dollar loan and get myself some parts. So the plan is to remove the head get stock bore weisco pistons with a 9to1 ratio and some eagle H-beam rods,272 cams,50trim or 20g not sure whats gunna work best with my set up,arp head studs and main studs,acl aluminum bearings(new bearing set they have out a buddy of mine got some and he likes them alot),new piping for the front mount,ported stock 2g intake manifold,850cc injectors,DSMlink,Fidanza lightend flywheel,Act 2600 streetdisk clutch. I think thats all for now if I remember more I'll post it up and I'll post up some more pictures of the teardown in a little bit.

I wish you luck. I got about 1k miles on mine before my engine seized. I'm doing the same thing myself except going from the t25 to a 14b. Keep us updated on it. You ever pull an engine before?

No I haven't but what were gunna do is drop the oil pan remove the pistons and hone the cylinder walls and drop the new ones in.

Were thinking it may still have the stock hone in it because it only has 65,000 miles on it but you never know I hope we get lucky.

i have tried to do engine work on the block by leaving it in before and ill tell ya its not worth the hassel. i just ended up pulling the block any way. its might take a bit longer to pull the motor but if you have a cherry picker and a engine stand. it will save you a big headache. this is all good if time is not a factor and you have another mode of wheels.

Ya I have another mode of transportation. I'm taking my sweet time with this I want it perfect. Plus my buddy that is helping me has done it before so he is my guru at this point. I took some more pics tonight will have them posted up in a few.
