Resolved 1997 Eagle Talon TSi AWD starter location diagram?

Looking for the diagram for the starter
Can’t seem to find it next to the battery underneath the tray it’s not there all-wheel-drive model tsi. Try to follow the ground try
to follow the ground to chassis positive goes behind intake manifold is the starter on the driver side or on the passenger side underneath the battery tray?

Just got finished watching a video. It’s not in that location.

The starter is underneath the intake manifold bolted to the bellhousing of the transmission.
If it's not there, you don't have a starter installed. There's no other location for it.

One of the two bolts that secure it to the bellhousing is also the ground point, so you'll see a very thick gauge wire eyeletted on that bolt.
The two other wires that run to the starter is a direct positive from the battery and a solenoid trigger wire from the main harness.

Just got finished watching a video. It’s not in that location.

that’s the casting side of it. It’s actually on the opposite side going in the opposite direction so it’s directly underneath the intake manifold in the middle going in towards the passenger side from the driver side pointing in the passenger direction that’s where the starter is located. it’s in that location, but that’s the casting hard side of it. The actual starter is where to break master boot master clutch master reservoir is at underneath the intake manifold right in front of the firewall you can get from it underneath. I guess can’t get any access to on top at all or underneath maybe if the tire comes off on the driver side, but it’s definitely behind the motor in the middle of the motor. Definitely nothing like in the video on all all-wheel-drive model. There’s another picture up on the forms because I searched before posting this and it also shows the starter in the same location.

thank you yes I figured it out now. It’s definitely underneath intake manifold the only way you can get to it if the car is up in the air. On the other models like front wheel drive or something it’s different but the all-wheel-drive model the transfer case differential all that stuff is in the way, so they put it in the middle of the engine behind the engine on the firewall side going into the engine on the passenger side here’s the picture I found on DSM tuners. This is the correct location too bad there’s no diagram. I tried searching Google. Nothing DSM tuners not the DSM talk nothing I can’t find a diagram of the actual picture of the starter going into the engine.

thank you yes I figured it out now. It’s definitely underneath intake manifold the only way you can get to it if the car is up in the air. You can absolutely get to it from the top of the engine bay. It just usually requires the removal of the battery so you can get your elbow in there.
I installed my starter from above (as I always do) after the head and manifold went on. Through a bit of experience you can figure out the angle and path you need to feed it to get above and below everything. It's not a cakewalk for new people but it's not impossible either, just requires some patience.

I've also had to swap starters in a gas station parking lot once my rusted solenoid seized whilst the engine was still hot.


The starter has been in the same position regardless of AWD or FWD from 1990-1999. It has not changed, and is well documented in the FSM and any Haynes/Chilton manual. It's not hidden information.
