Hello, I just found a 1996 Eagle talon for sale. It is a TSi NO AWD and is listed for 3200 dollars with 116000 miles. It is in overall good condition, but I was just wondering if anyone knows of any inherent problems with this year or talons in general? What would i be getting myslef into? Also the front bumper appears to have been in a crash, it looks good now, but is a little out of allignment, how much would this cost to fix? Also do you guys think this is a good price for this vehicle? Thanks a lot guys.

seems like a good price to me. just get some general info about the car, like does it use oil, does it smoke, tick, how often did they change the oil, stuff like that.

the owner said that the engione does have a little tick but this was usuall for dsm's is this true?

make sure the ticking noise isnt coming from the timing belt area. if it sound like its coming from the top of the engine somewhere then its most likely the normal tick dsm's make. marvels mystery oil in the gas tank every oil change cured mine. crankwalk is the main common problem you want to worry about with 2nd gen eclipses & talons. there are several symptoms. clicking from the timing area, clicking or rpm change when the clutch is pressed, and the clutch may sink on left hand turns. look into crankwalk on here... other then that check for smoke. black smoke = fuel problem, blue smoke = oil problem. blue smoke is a bit more to worry about. it could be bad rings, bad turbo, which are both costly problems with alot of downtime. the car could run fine for many more miles but... there is something wrong. check the tranny shifts smooth. if its manual some high mileage cars are prone to popping out of fifth gear. its easily fixed, just check the site. check tires, expect around 500 for new ones. and expect to pay for premium fuel with the turbo models.

The turbo charged cars require more attention such as checing your fluids daily and making sure everything is in good working order.
If the other person took care of it and has had everything serviced and kept up to date, and done when it should be, then your problems will be less.
No turbo charged car is without problems but just keep good sense about you. check your belts, hoses, brakes, fluids, tranny.
