hey guys ive got an Eagle Talon ES and am converting it to TSI. got the car with a blown trans and clutch. getting a TSI/Gst trans and clutch and doing a swap on the stock NT motor. car is a 1993 5 speed car. dark green metallic with dark gray factory rims that look pretty uncommon for a DSM. non sunroof but power windows and locks. doing a stock turbo, stock ecu, stock injectors and fuel system for now with a front mounted intercooler and ARP head studs. a buddie of mine has 9 of these cars and has built serveral engine. This summer ill be pulling the motor again and doing a pt6266 and forged 2.3L stroker motor. stay tuned :rocks:

Thanks guys. i finally got parts ordered. Arp head studs. 2g exhaust manifold. Evo3 16g. Key Diver custom tune. 660cc injectors. 190lph pump. Hahn Super side mount intercooler. and much more. should be upwards of 350whp. non turbo motors have 9.0 compression ratio. Looks like im gonna keep the non turbo trans with upgraded clutch and do an evo 5th gear.

heres some of the parts. turbo oil pan. turbo coil packs and cam angle sensor. turbo oil lines. evo maf and such.

heres the car. been sitting since 2008. factory 4g63 car. low milage. good shape just needs washed. Rescued and Revived!

You need to be sure to use either factory turbo pistons or if your looking to keep the same compression ratio there are suitable aftermarket pistons.

The n/t uses 9:1 because the factory turbo (7.8:1) pistons don't have the compression a naturally aspirated engine needs, but the piston itself is not designed to handle boost. They will end up cracking at weak points.

The last post by Justin on this thread shows the clear differences between the two pistons.

The rods between the 2.0 n/t and turbo block are identical, so you won't need to replace those.

I've seen many people run non turbo drivetrains over 400whp and have 0 issues if tuned for no knock.

The pistons will be the weak point, I have seen them crack at the ring landings. Id be sure that the cylinder walls are in good shape and no visible scaring.

Here's what my block looked like prior to taking it apart and finding a 1/4 of the piston landing broken off.
