I recently bought a 1990 Talon TSi AWD from a fellow DSM'r at RochesterDSM with the knowledge that there was a problem with the transmission. It wasn't a big deal, I feel like I got a good deal on the car anyways. I waited to put the car on the road until I was able to diagnose and fix the problems. The problem to my understanding with the transmission is that the "bolts are backing out" where the tranny mates with the engine. At least that is what the previous owner told me. You can see his account of it in the thread he was selling it in here.

My questions are:

1) Are the bolts stretched? If so, it would probably be wise to replace them, right?

2) If there is nothing wrong with the bolts, is it safe to use something like LocTite to keep things up there?

3) Or, do I just tighten them up again, maybe he didn't have them torqued properly.

If I am missing any information that would help diagnose and solve this problem, please let me know. Thanks for any constructive feedback that can be given! -Greg-
