I'm changing my post to, how cheap and where can I get an EPROM ECU if I do not already heave one? 1990 awd tsi.

-original post-
I am assuming from what I heave read that the answer is yes. But, if I had a bad ECU, I could just replace it with dsmlink, right? On a 1990?

DSMlink is a chip that you add on to your stock ecu.

Edit: ^ He beat me to it. :coy:

Does your ECU smell like rotten eggs? It could just be that you need to replace your capacitors. If they are leaking it could cause your ecu to not function properly or not at all.

Is this the same broke down car you've been posting about for the past two days? You could probably have the current ecu repaired for cheaper than buying a replacement.

Well I just saw this car for the first time today. I have been asking some questions that pertain to it.

Where would you all advise one to go for a rebuild? If it was not an EPROM ecu, how much would it take to swap one in?

How cheap can you get an EPROM ECU for a 1990 awd turbo?

California models will cost a little more which is what I've been plagued with. Federal models are about the same price though. If I were you I wouldn't pay anymore than 225-250 dollars. I just bought one from some guy for 110 dollars though! It all depends on the person selling the ecu and if he is knowledgeable when it comes to the street value for the eprom ecu's. I knew of a great place that will charge no more than $150 to repair the ecu. It usually comes up to about 75-100 dollars though. I need to ask my friend the name of the website. I'll get back to you tomorrow.
