did a quick search but i couldnt find it. Will a 18x8 rim with 225 40 18 tire fit cleanly on a 2g dsm with a +40 offset?
car will be lowered 1 inch.

I have my eclipse with 19x9 +40 wheels and 235/35/19 tyres and do not rub anywhere and I have it with coilovers. Are just single body

Why do you only want to run 225's on 8" rims? I run 245's on 7.5 and there is no bulging and they clear even with it lowered. I did use a fender roller but I still have space.

Becuase thats what the tires are I just bought them and there were tires on them. Im gunna sell these tires and get new ones. What is the widest tire I could put on do you think?? 255s?

Don't worry about tire width, you will be fine with 225. I have had 18x7.5 with +40 and a 225/40/18 and it never rubbed. I currently have 18x8.5 +40 and never rubbed with 225/40/18. I have since rolled my fenders when I got rid of the 225's to fit my current tires.
255's might be too wide for an 8" wide wheel. Don't get lost in the numbers like most people seem to do. It's not just about size, focus on the tire itself. If you buy a wide tire just to fulfill a desire to have 255's and its crap then it won't offer any benefits. I find it amusing to see people talk about having 255's but when you look they are running an all-season 255. A narrower 235 Advan would run rings around that 255 all day long, so that's why you shouldn't focus on just the width.

Im not planning on focusing on just the width I was just curious to see what the biggest but still practical size was to put on an 8inch wide tire. I have highperformance summer tires on right now and might even drive them for the winter LOL depending on how mnuch snow we get... otherwise i will throw my stock wheels back on for the time being.
