2G 17x8 w/ +48mm Offset on 2G?

This has been bugging me for awhile but will 17x8" wheels fit on a 2g with 48mm offset? My car is not lowered but will be lowered about 1.3-1.5". Also if these do fit what size tires could I use with and without rolling the fenders? Wheels in question are the Rota Slipstreams. Thanks.

According to Rota's site the slipstream doesn't come in a 17...

diameter:Yes, 2G come stock with 17s.

width:Yes, measure your stock wheels Im sure its 5.5-6.5

Offsets: The higher sits in the fender more. So, Yes.

3 things that may happen that most dont think about:


1. stock wheels are usually 16x7 and going to a 17x8 is a good bit wider than stock so you would have to get tires that are 225 wide to fit without your rim being wider than the tires (my other car is an rx8 with 18x8 with 225/45 stock)
The rear may not have any problems with the width but after you lower the car, it may or may not still but, the front wheels may scrub after you lower the car and you dont want to find out the hard way. Tirerack assumes a stock car and suspension.

2. Bearing load and effective camber may be affected and cause bearing wear and or tires wearing uneven due to centerline of new rims and weight distibution over the tire and suspension. Lowering your car will magnify this even more so but changing camber (hopefully you will adjust for this what you can)

3. going to wheels that are larger and wider will put more strain on suspension if you are going to go around corners spiritedly and it will, depending on the new weight of the tire/wheel combo, slow you car down and you will have less mpg and more strain on the trans, engine, and so on. It is small for the most part but, just sayin is all.
