17x8 on 1g

Got some pictures of my wheels and tires. The wheel is 17x8, +35. Keep in mind my suspension is 100% stock and the camber is set straight up.

First tires I tried were the G-force KDW, 235/40/17.

As you can see, theres a lot of wasted space on the inside. After seeing that, I knew I needed to go wider.

And obviously, they stick out quit a bit.

Here's the new tires, Azenis RT-615, 245/45/17. I really wanted 245/40/17 because they are almost exactly the same diameter as stock, but the RT-615 isn't made in that size (nor are many other tires). Unfortunately, the 245/45/17 is about 3/4" taller diameter which I really didn't want, but we'll see how it works.

I don't think I'm going to be able to lower much...if at all.

At least the inside fits nicely :)

Neither tire rubs on the fender well or anything at full crank, but I didn't test drive on them. If I did I wouldn't be able to return them :D I'm not sure yet if I'm going to stick with this size or try to find a 245/40 I like. I think I might have to go with coilovers instead of shocks/springs so that I can keep stock ride height. Or is there a quality spring out there that's stiff and doesn't lower the car? I think if I did that, then a little negative camber would keep me from rubbing on the fender. I'll probably be rolling the fenders too if it will even make a difference!

The Kumho MX comes in 245/40/17. Not quite as good laterally as the Falkens, but better for launching.

- Jtoby

ps. anything that close when sitting still will probably mean rubbing during hard turns; and either 615s or MXs will induce hard-turning behaviors ;) fortunately, the 245/40/17s are shorter, giving a bit more clearance

A good alternative in 17x8. 38mm offset, about 19 lbs I think

Looking to get, the Team dynamics Pro race1

It seems that it is about the same wheels as the FQ400 EVO VIII :)

Mitch seems to have good deals also...

What to you guy's think of this one: pricier but A LOT lighter

I might have to consider that tire if these start causing problems...I can get Kumhos pretty inexpensively. I was thinking the same thing you said, that they would probably rub on hard corners. I guess I'll have to hit the track to know for sure.

You will actually get the Evo FQ400 wheels which ARE diferrent than the Race 1.

What is the difference? From previous searches I thought that TD had the Pro Race 1, the Pro race 1.2, and the Pro race 2. I think I remember the 1.2 was the wheel that came in the sizes that I wanted... I'm obviously not sure about this though.

(obviously as well as their rally version, and i think there is a single lug or some other race wheel they offer.)

Of the shelf wheels in Pro Race 1 don’t have the hub-center sized for a Mitsubishi and they use other lug nuts than the EVO OE like the FQ400 does. The FQ400 wheels are actually the 1.2 in 17x8 and high gloss black( which is not available in the other 1.2 wheels). The 1.2 are the same wheels they use in ETCC (multi-lugs) and BTCC (center lug configuration).
Team Dynamics cannot however sell the Mitsu logo center caps that come on the FQ400 EVO because of legal matters.
