17x8.5 wheels with 245/40/17, 30 offset will rub???

there is nothing about 17x8.5 on VFAQ

it ALL depends on the offset...to fit 245's most people get 8" wide with a 40mm-35mm offset but BEWARE since urs are 8.5". you might want to get closer to 40mm. I have 17x8 w/ 35mm offset and they stick out a lil in the front with 225's. It will stick out a good amount if i had a 8.5" width

I would ask Wret about this one, he seems to be most knowledgeble about wheel and tire sizing. I would think going with a 35 mm offset on 8.5" rims would stick out a bit but with 8.5" rims I also think they would rub the suspension if you went any more than 35 mm... Hopefully Wret will chime in and set us all straight.

Yes, 245's on +35mm offset will stick out about half an inch and you will have a hard time getting them to tuck. On +40mm offset wheels with moderate lowering and corrected camber it is barely possible to tuck the wheels .
