Can anyone tell me the part number for a 1g dsm 170 degree thermostat they all seem t o be only 180+ and i can't find the part number for 170....

or send me an ebay link to a 170 degree thermostat for $10-$19 thank you!

Any good reason you wanna run a lower thermostat temperature? They have an alternator of 192* or 160*. 182* is o.e. and ideal temp. Beck Arnley P#1430687 for 160*.

Well i don't have a thermostat in as it is and during the summer i'm getting above 220-230+ degrees in stop and go traffic so i wanna take the temp way down and be somewhere at like 180-190 operating temp

At one point in my 2g life I had to switch to a 170. My temps where just not right, and droppin in that 170 thermostat did the trick. Some cars are just different then other you might run into that odd ball.

I don't think the op understands how the cooling system works in regards to the thermostat. It has absolutely no effect on peak temperatures you're seeing. It's a lower limit. It's there to keep the car running ABOVE a set temperature because of how combustion works (and emissions regulations).

Putting in a non-oem thermostat is not going to fix your overheating in traffic. I'd say your fans are not functioning properly or you have some severe blockage to your airflow to your radiator.

You need to run with a thermostat. Running without is just retarded.
