16g, full boost at 5k!? 2nd gear!

I have my 16g with a 14b wastegate thats set at 15 psi.

I just had midwest street performance hunt down all the boost leaks, in first gear i get to 10 psi at like 6k. this is ridiculous.

2nd gear at 5k.

Any ideas? Im not running a mbc right now, i have a o2 dump, megan downpipe, apexi n1, stock mani.

Don't check spool in anything lower than 3rd gear; there's just not enough load on the engine and it revs up too fast.

Im not running a mbc right now.

How can you 'set' the WGA at 15psi without an MBC? If you have the stock BCS or something OK, but if the line is straight from the boost source to the WGA and you get to 15psi, you're boost creeping.
 
I had midwest street performance take of the crappy ebay WG and put a 14b one on that was set to 15 psi. That was they told me. It will hold at 15 in 3rd but it will still spike to 18, 20ish. In 2nd.
 
My guess would be that there's something wrong with the wastegate, it's staying partially open or something.

I'm pretty sure the 14b wastegte actuator operates at 11 psi. Without a MBC I don't see how you can keep the wastegate closed above 11 psi. This would explain why you're only seeing 10 psi.

You can attach an air hose and pressure gauge to the WG actuator to verify at what pressure it begins to operate. You can also install a MBC (or EBC) and raise the boost pressure to see if the problem still exists. As a very quick and dirty way (and potentially dangerous) of testing, you could completely remove the air line from the WG actuator and CAREFULLY get into boost, noting whether or not the boost rises past 10 psi sooner than you're currently seeing.

Also, any pre-turbo exhaust leaks will adversely affect the spool up of the turbo.

I can easily boost to 15 psi in 1st gear by 4k rpm on my e316g. The OP should see 10 psi way before 6k as he stated. By 5k I'm at 20+ psi in 2nd gear and to 27 psi by 6k in 3rd.
 
No 14b wastegate is set to 15psi, man. Unless maybe they modified the spring? But I'm sure they would have told you that. Maybe you're seeing the affects of a China-g. Use an actual boost-controller and see what happens. If you're spiking to 20psi, that's really shitty considering the wastegate should be bleeding off at 11ish.
