16g Exhaust Housing on 14b Turbo??

Okay well I am just curious as to if there is any changes on how the turbo would react? I had a blown 14b turbo on my GST when I first got it, so I had to find a diff turbo. Well I got a 16g when I got the GST also but it was blown, although almost brand new. I bought a replacement 14b in awesome condition, then swapped out the exhaust housings from the 14b, and switched it with the small 16g. I'm not too sure if it helped with anything, or any type of benefits. Just wondering if there was any at all, or no changes??

The reason why I ask this is because I had a couple friends which unplugged their wastegate's and they could only hit about 18-20psi on the stock 14b turbo. I'm a stock GST except for 2g manifold, and that 16g exhaust housing. Well my buddy unplugged mine just to see where it'd go, and how much of a difference it'd make. Well I did one little run and the boost gauge read up to 26psi. I had no fuel cut, or anything, just pulled like a fricken monster. I know it's bad but I only did it once, and will never do it again.
 
The 14b has a 6cm turbine housing and the 16G a 7cm.
If anything it will slightly slow your spool and yield better top end flow.

I wouldn't recommend unhooking the wastegate pressure signal. A manual boost controller can be bought for a reasonable price. Also I would not recommend running over 15psi with no fuel mods. You may want to start with running plugs one heat range colder, NGK BPR7ES.
 
I am aware of what un-hooking the wastegate does. I'm not gona up the boost any time soon so I don't want any type of MBC. He also just wanted to see and test out how much it'd push out for boost, to see if the housing made a difference. I do feel a little slower spool time compared to the regular 14b, and the boost doesn't fall off in the higher rpm's. Other than that I am running the NGK BPR7ES gapped to (.28).
 
It will decrease your spool but that's about it. I would just keep the housing that was on it. I would recommend changing out the plugs now because you probably ran very lean and could have melted the electrode on the plug. It only takes once. Hope you don't start having any problems because of that one time. I know of people that have done that and thier car never ran the same.
 
The car right now is running just fine. I haven't checked the plugs, but i'll do that here in a little bit. It boosts up and drives just fine. I'll do another compression check just to see, but i'm pretty positive everything is good to go. It was only one WOT run for bout 2secs, cause when I seen the gauge go up to 26psi I let off and stopped, plugged the vacuum line back in and let the car chill for awhile.
