I spent a little time searching and didn't really come up with what I was looking for so if someone does come up with a thread feel free to close this one down and point me in the right direction.

I am currently running a set of FIC 1600 cc injectors. I have noticed that while crusing you can feel the car surging and I really notice the driveability has gone down since swapping from the old 750's I have.

What are others experiences and suggestions. I don't daily drive the car anymore but it is nice to be able to drive it to work everyonce in a while rather than driving my little boom box mx-3. My biggest concerns is the extra wear it is putting on the driveline. At low rpm's (2-3k) it will sometime buck and this bothers me as I don't like the way it feels in the car and I really don't think it is good on the drivetrain.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I know this post would be better suited for a different location but at current my post count is still rather low for various reasons.

Tuning is being done with dsmlink v2. The car has everything done to it to support these injectors.

Tuning device? Supporting mods? Turbo? Need a little more information than just a surging with a set of 1600cc injectors.

Which FIC 1600's? The old denso or the new bluemax FIC's?
I have the bluemax which is supposed to fix a lot of problems the old big injectors had.
Bluemax injectors come with actual deadtime values which is priceless for me using AEM.
Does dsmlink have a place to put these values in? If not that might be half your problem, the other half might be if you have the old style.

Yeah, it sounds to me you may have to work on nailing your deadtimes down. What are your fuel trims at low and medium.

They are the old style. Yes link does allow me to set the deadtime on these. I think I may call FIC and talk with them.

Overall the only complaint I have with mine is the partial throttle driveability. Once you put them under a load they do great.

Does anyone have a link to these Blue Max injectors? I'm looking on FIC's website and I don't see them anywhere. Of course I could be just being blonde.

yeah i would give FIC a call and see what they say and recommend for deadtimes as well. It could just be an issue that existed with the older style too:hmm:

So I spoike with FIC and their comment was that it is a known issue with these injectors and basically they are sorry and offered to sell me a set of their blue max injectors which they say are alot better than the old one's that I have. Well right now I don't have the money to throw at another set of injectors.

I have seen the page on link about suggested deadtime but I was wondering if anyone that currently runs these injectors could shed some more light on the subject.

Thanks

I went with 1600 because I am planning on running over 600awhp soon and didn't want to buy another set of injectors. This is my 4th set (oem,550's,750's and now 1600's) I am currently in the neighborhood of around 450awhp.

All the 1600s I have played with so far have light load and small Idle surge problem. We are going to be trying the blue max soon and may be the bosh 1000s at 80psi base with twin bosh 044s.

I have found tuning the cars a bit richer so the trims are pulling 5-10 seem to smooth them out sum.

On EVO's I find if I turn off the o2 and just tune the map its much smooter. The new V3 is really the only way to do that with the link.

Also the factory 1g timing map in V2 is plain stupid. V3 makes the tunning and power delivery so much smother. on V2 you run the same timing above 18psi so that means your 30 psi tune is really down on hp at low boost. Also the way the V2 has peak timing at 24deg at 6k is why our normally link timing curve has a crazy V in it.

i think the injectors are to much for the engine, i would either mod it alot or get smaller injectors, injectors arent going to do anything if they're too big besides mess with your engine.

WTF Please do not respond with newbie answers like that. Read the Rules and the WHOLE Thread next time.

As far as them surging, whats the IDC on those right now? And what are you estimating they might be for your big goals? If those injectors are known to suck.... why dont you tell FIC to give you a good trade in value or swap those suckers. I would not let a company tell me their product sucks sometimes and its a well-known problem and NOT have them do something for my inconvenience. Tell them to trade you or your calling BBB.

All of you guys are sitting here BSing with no experience.. I've ran the Ford FIC1600cc injectors and have had the same issues as you. There is no tuning out of it, changing the deadtime or global wont stop it. It's an issue with them at around 2-3milliseconds. It's annoying and exactly why i sold mine and got the new bluemax 1550's. They don't cause this studder or surging at part throttle.

The thing is that from what I understand no matter who's brand name of injector you had, the 1600's were all made by Bosch. So telling anything to FIC would be a waste of time. When I spoke with the owner of FIC he was very helpful and made me a few offers as to what we can do with my injectors. The reason FIC started making the Blue Max injectors is because Bosch discontinued the 1600's and FIC designed their own injector this time and they think they have fixed the known problems with the old Bosch injectors.
