Ok this started from a blown t25. I got the hookup on a 14b and a 1g return oil line and a jpipe. I went out and brought new gaskets some crushed washers and a banjo bolt or two. It looked ver straight foward.

Day 1-2:
I drained all the fluids and tok off turbo bolts and un hooked everything i could. I also removed the driver side fan.

Day 3:
PB BLASTER! got most of everything off but the downpipe nuts were being ###....

Day 4:
got it towed up the street to my mechanioc with an impact to take the 2 nuts off, then got it towed back.

Day 5:
DROPPING THE T25... To all those who want to do this swap or something similar TAKE BOTH FANS AND RADIATOR OUT! I didnt and after about 2 hours of banging the t25 with a bar and rubber mallet it finally drop, but not without damagin the new radiator i got.

Day 6:
14b went in semi smoothly, i forgot to put the gasket on so i had to drop it again but a friend helped and it went ok. didnt have to bend any waterlines really, hooked thos up and then the new jpipe I got. Had to stop because I needed 1 oil return bolt and the SS line I had had wrong fittings...SO we wait

Day 7:
GOt the bolt and ordered a new radiator and SS line. Put bolt in....

Day 8-9:
SS line came went on semi easily.

Day 10:
Put oil in the Car and radiator should arrive later. After replacing a fuse for the inside i sit inside to test it out. and notice my car wont shift into anything but 1st and 3rd. I look under the hood and the jpipe is in the way of the linkage.....I attempt to lossent he hlaves of the turbo and turn it a lil and instead i tighten it and break the bolt holding the halves together.....
-SO now I have a jpipe that doesnt work that i need to some how bend.
-I need to go find a bolt for the housings
-put my radiator in
-pray nothing else goes wrong
HELP ME!!!!!!!

This swap better be worth it!!!!

I recently did mine it wasn't that hard at all but thats my opinion. So far its not worth it by the way, but it is better. :toobad:

I took 5 days to take out the turbo? wow, are you workin on it like 15 mintues a day? First time I removed my 14b it took about 2 hours.

:thumb: ...yea it took 2 days actually. would have taken 30min if I had a impact. Im limited to hand ratchets and wrenchs and didnt even have a breaker bar. And this is my first time doing anything other then oil changes on my car.

Things will go quicker as you do them more. :thumb:

Back before i really knew how to work on cars i would've been the same as you. It's weird looking back, it's like one day the way i looked at working on a car changed and everything became 10,000% easier. I could probably do a turbo swap blindfolded with one hand in 5 hours or less these days :D

there's really no use for impacts, maybe on the DP bolts but that's it.

Anyways, whoever says the 14b isn't leaps and bounds better than the T25 obviously has some other issue with their car. 14b on a 2g is one of the best "backyard" mods you can do IMO. Plus the 14b is less likely to fly apart and go into your engine like one of mine did :notgood:

i don't use impact wrenches or breaker bars and it took me like 2 hours for the swap (14b to 13g with automatic exhaust man. on my 90 awd)... took my buddy like an hour and a half to do a t25 to 14b swap (without the kit ... just connecting tubes with fuel hose and clamps).

One thing I noticed with taking out the T-25 is that the compressor hits the front motor mount. Mind you I removed the T-25 from the manifold and not all of it together. So I simply removed the front mount and it had plenty of room to drop. The only real problem I had was the removal of one of the manifold bolts and a bolt on the o2 housing that somehow had the threads stripped. That held me back half a day.

I only removed the drivers side fan although it might of provided better room if I didn't have the radiator there. As long as you're being careful (not saying you weren't) then there shouldn't be a problem hitting the radiator.

It would be much easier to do it when the 2nd time comes around. I only plan to upgrade to a 16g so it's a direct swap, I'll just get new crush washers and maybe some gaskets. It'll probably be only a half a day swap or less next time.

yea im sure with the knowledge i have now i could do it in a day, but im learnign new things which will help me later on. All thats left is to cut the counterweight (thanks Leet) and then go get a bolt for the lil bracket that holds the turbo halves togetherr and ill be done. Thanks for the constructive criticism from you people who have done this "plenty of times". Ill make sure I do something before the first time I do it..... WTF

PS- that motor mount was a PITA!

Why don't I remember removing a motor mount when I changed for a t-25 to an 18G?

no u dont remove it.... What we meant was when dropping the t25 the motor mount is in the way, you have to manuever it out.

I don't see how it is more difficult, it's less work by just removing the T-25 instead of the manifold with the T-25 still bolted on to it.

I agree, one day it all clicked, and nothing was scary anymore. Now I have no worries about trying new stuff on the fly.

I remember when i did my first tranny swap (1st big thing besides oil/spark plug changes). I planned it for like 2 weeks, printed out tons of info, took time off from work, and spend like 3 full days on it. Now I could do it in about 5 hours with no planning.

Oh man I hated doing the clutch on my friends car. The only thing we had trouble on was getting the tranny up and mounted...really sucks. I'm sure a tranny jack would've made it easier but we just used a floor jack.

It is interesting to see how fast you learn from your first time doing something on your car, or in any case really. I think a lot of it is just being way to anxious, sometimes you do all this planning and it comes out to be simply, and other times you don't do enough planning or research.

doing a tranny swap on my 1g wasnt too bad. i lifted the heavy end from the bottom while my skinny buddy maneuvered it into place :thumb:

switching to a td05h turbo on a 2g is a pain in the ass if you do not remove the manifold.

I had no problem at all with it

i did the same swap on my 95 gs-t
it took me the whole weekend to get everything in order
my only prob was licp kept blowing off the 14b

saturated with oil

Hey im finally done with the install :rocks:
the swap is worth it no matter what anyone says. I now pull on my friend tthat has greddy hard pipes, MBC, T25, catback, and stage 3 clutch.
