14b+16g compressor housing,and wheel=?

I just bought a 16g in need of a rebuild.Instead of a complete rebuild,would this work?A 16g compressor housing,and wheel,put on the 14b shaft and center piece(where the lines go to).Also, is the 16g exhaust wheel the same as a 14b?I have a ported 14b exhaust housing, and I know that will fit.Theres a Diesel shop around that can balance it .The only reason for this idea is that it would only cost me $200 total,thats including the balance.Ive search,but could not come to the conclusion if it would work. So it boils down to this, 16g compressor housing,and wheel the rest 14b,,,,would it work.

Yes it would work and yes the exhaust housings/wheels are the same. But make sure i get it balanced as u had mentioned.

sure it will work.. just remember by using the 14b turbine housing your spool up will be faster but top end reduced.

^^^ this will happen if you use the 14B turbine housing. The 14B's housings are 6cm^2, 16G's are usually 7cm^2. Better spoolup, but chokes easier on the top-end. Since they're both TD05H turbine wheels, either housing will fit - your choice.

I don't think you can use the 14B's compressor housing unless you machine it to accept the 16G wheel. You'll probably want to use the 16G comp housing.

I used the TDO-5H 14B, and had it rebuilt and converted to the 16G wheel.

And yes the turbo shop had to maschine the TDO5H-14B housing to fit the 16G wheel in it.

I planned on using the 16g compressor housing,and wheel.The 16g I bought was a complete turbo.Now I just need to take my 14b off and switch parts,then get it balanced.Thanks all for the info.
