canada,
Hey I am able to aquire 100 octain (aviation fuel) for my 90 tsi awd.

Will this stuff be good for my car or will it be bad.

I know the higher octain for a turbo charged ride is better but I just want to make sure that running 100 octain is safe.

Thanks

first, are you sure this is aviation fuel? b/c if it is, its defenatly not 100 octain, is probably c16 or somthing like that.

Also 100 unleaded octane gas is A-OK for your car. even 110 leaded or 114leaded is no problem. If the gas is leaded it will clog the cat, foul spark plugs and foul out o2 sensors.

It may also contain alcohol, which can eat away at the rubber feed lines and gas tank walls. Stay away from it unless you can get a copy of the whats actually in it. If you want some cheap 100 octane, just mix 1.5 gallons of toluene with 3.5 gallons of 93 pump gas. Voila.

can u be specific as to how to get that substance you said...and what else do i need..i can get ultra 94 from sunoco...

Higher octane gas is definitely better. In fact, you can run more boost with the same fuel system with race gas (Basically higher octane gas).

Isnt it something like the higher octane the less knock you get? and itll keep you away from detonation and stuff? but isnt it also true that running 110 octane or something without tuning for it would make you run rich...or soemthing like that?

1. aviation fuel is 100 octane.
2. its a low leaded gas
3. its safe to run your car for short periods of time (like track days) but continued use will result in the death of your o2 sensor.
4. running a higher octane gas WILL NOT make you run any richer, it lessons the chance of you getting knock. it has nothing to do with the a/f ratio
5. unless you are seeing knock right now, and you throw in the 100 oct and make no changes, you will prob see no gain. you will have to either lean out the mixture, turn up the boost, or raise the timing...
6. aviation fuel doesnt contain alchohol.

:)

Thanks for the info man!

See i can fill up my tank for $25 canadian from a buddy's hook up with the 100 octain av.gas. So i wanted to constantly run that fuel b/c of the riseing gas prices plus its 100 octain.... but i guess i cant....

Thanks again
