Is anyone here running a 10% taller fifth gear? Can you tell me how it drives on the highway? And what you like and dislike about it.

What's even the point of a taller gear? Higher speed?
I guess you would have a higher top speed as well, right?

Would be nice.
My car runs around 3000rpm at 70mph. I drive close to 500 miles a week, so mpg improvement would be nice. Been getting right around 25mpg right now.
.
But it's not like a lot of our cars have the power to get to 186. To be honest, 204 sounds realistic, it's just having the power to reach 204 is unrealistic. Understand where I'm coming from? It could go either way...
Yeah, I understand you. I'm just saying the whole add and subtract 10% sounds unrealistic. I doubt transmission are that simple.. but what do I know
25mpg is pretty good. I'm sure you could tune out whatever mpg gain you would get from switching the 5th gear. Don't know if it's worth the 300rpms either. If your tranny is worn and you are going to rebuild it, than i'd go for it. But i wouldn't tear it apart if it isn't broke.
Well, about the higher top speed thing. I did some looking and and I HEARD the factory transmission tops out at 186. I probably heard wrong though. And since it seems people in the thread are just adding 10% or in the case of RPM's subtracting 10% I don't see why it wouldn't work on speed too.. Although I'm most likely wrong since I know nothing about transmissions the 10% taller 5th gear should top out at 204.6. Which sounds really unrealistic.
Where do I order?
. The 199 extra bucks will be worth it then.
