ok i could not find any thing to help determine if theres a advantage to this . I race at a local track 1/4 mile dirt oval the car primarily runs in second gear . Ive been told that a 1.8 tranny is geared to be quicker then my 2.0 tranny .....I do know the transmisions are interchangable ... my question is .....first are they a direct swap and how much difference is there in the second gear ratios 1.8 compared to the 2.0 ......any help would be greatly appreciated here ... by the way its a 93 eagle talon 5 speed

It will bolt to the block but I do not remember if the 2.0 NT flywheel/clutch clear the bellhousing. I feel the 1.8 (F5M21) is weaker. I know it holds less fluid than the F5M22. As for gearing you may have to pull the case apart and count the gear teeth. Tom Stangl has a site but it does not include the 1.8. His site is VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions. Also, donate if it helps anyone.
