1.8 non-turbo chip???

The only chips that I have seen are for 2.0 dohc turbo engines but, I can't find 1.8 sohc non-turbo chip. I know they exsist because I have a 1.8 eprom ecu (159561E) Does dsmchips.com have them or where could I find one???

did you pull the ecu open to see if it was eprom,or is it just the part number of the case?

you probably can't find one because there would really be no point in making a chip for a car with 92hp and 105 lb/ft of torque.

i didnt know some 1.8's had the eprom.the only reason the turbo eprom guys upgrade is because of bigger injectors,rev control,and so on.a chip probably wouldnt benefit you,since you have 92 hp like ramenpride said.youd be better of getting exhaust and intake upgrades more than a chip.

Faulty logic, why do you think EPROM ECUs exist? It's not so you can mod your car.

yes,but what different instructions would you actually give it? Are you gonna raise the rev limiter?install bigger injectors? Or are you just looking to fine tune your car? If so an safc might just do the trick. You might be able to squeeze 8-10 more hp with one. Or more,who knows. Not much of a market for the 4g37. If anything,write dsmchips and see if they can do abything for you.Good luck.

Well, I was going to use it to fine tune my car but, I guess I can do the same thing with my maf-t and datalogger

My point is that the factory didn't make then so you could change the oode, They made them so they could ship cars without paying an arm and a leg for a custom CPU if they were making small numbers or so they could ship cars while they waited for the custom CPU with the code burned into it. An EPROM ECU costs them a couple of $ more each and over a couple of million cars that is real money so they don't want to do it unless they have to to make more money.

Nowdays it's cheaper to build ECUs that are programmable with flash and such but not 10-15 years ago.

It you really want a custom chip and are willing to pay for a one off, there are people who can do it. But I can think of better things to spend the money on.

I haven't seen a EPROM ECU for a 1.8L. Could you post some pictures.

That's a turbo EPROM ECU board from a 91-92 AWD MD166262.

The non-EPROM versions of the 1.8L ECU are sigificantly different than the non-EPROM 4G63 ECUs and that's why I wanted to know what it looked like, plus to make sure what you have was a 1.8L EPROM ECU.

I know but I don't a digital camera so, I can't take a picture of my eprom ecu, I made sure it was for a 1.8 non-turbo and it is the correct one (MD159561)

Just buy a used AFC if your so hell bent on modding a 1.8...
